Why Mary does this.
“Mary Elejel BHSc., RDH., IBCLC.
First and foremost, I’m a mother of two wonderful children, whom I was fortunate to successfully breastfeed. My own breastfeeding journey came with its share of challenges, learning experiences, and support along the way. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the value of sharing knowledge, offering guidance, and supporting families as they navigate their own feeding journeys. I truly believe that having the right support can make a world of difference in building confidence and empowering parents to nurture and care for their growing babies. Secondly, I have been a healthcare provider for over 18 years. In my early career I have obtained a bachelor’s degree in health sciences and a diploma of dental hygiene. I have worked as a registered dental hygienist providing oral health care, with a focus in myofunctional therapy, airway restrictions and tethered oral tissues.
I have a thorough understanding of oral dysfunction and the impact on growth and development of an individual. Over the last 5 years I have had the privilege to be part of a unique baby program, assisting in frenectomies and providing care to families with infant feeding challenges stemming from lip and tongue ties. This exposure has allowed me to see the voids in our community and the need for accessible support.
This inspired me to further my education and expand my knowledge by becoming an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. I am passionate about supporting families in reaching their feeding goals without judgment, while working collaboratively to establish healthy roots and a strong foundation for a thriving future. I’m dedicated to lifelong learning and continuing education, as well as pursuing personal passion projects that allow me to grow and expand my knowledge. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, sharing good food, laughter, and meaningful moments together. I have a deep appreciation for wellness and nature, and love spending time outdoors on long hikes, cooking, reading, and surrounding myself with good company. I am looking forward to being a part of your infant feeding journey.”
