Following our program you will identify and appropriately respond to a wide variety of lactation risk factors experienced by birthing parents prenatally, during the birth process, the fourth trimester and beyond. You will understand how unidentified lactation issues impact a mother's ability to meet her breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding goals.
Apply your new knowledge immediately to provide timely education and lactation support to help mothers reach their infant feeding goals, and help improve maternal satisfaction, breastfeeding exclusivity and duration rates in Ontario.

HOW CLIENTS BOOK A LACTATION CONSULT
1. Clients may book an appointment using our online booking service via BOOK NOW links, or contact admin@ontariobreastfeedingclinic.ca for assistance.
2. OHIP subsidized rate consults require valid health card numbers and referral.
3. Each OHIP subsidized appointment has an additional fee to cover the fees of the International Board Certified Lactation Consultants which are not covered by OHIP. Payments may be made via credit card, e-transfer, or cheque.
Clients may ask their lactation-friendly family doctor, midwife, nurse practitioner, OB, or walk-in clinic doctor to refer them.

*Please note: The OBC service is able to help support families who are experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding & lactation in a timely manner**. However, we are not an acute-care service. In cases where appropriate, please consider directing families to emergency care services.
We strive to support all pregnant, breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping and bottle-feeding families in Ontario. We want to help you meet your infant feeding goals!
In order to provide lactation support to our families, Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic IBCLCs work in co-operation with the Ontario Breastfeeding Clinic Physicians specializing in Breastfeeding Medicine. After all initial appointments, a consult report will be faxed to your provider with our assessments, findings and initial care plan recommendations.
Cancellation Policy
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the practitioner's day that could have been given to another family. As such, we require 48 hours notice (2 full business days, not including weekends or holidays) for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Cancelled appointments with less than 2 business days notice are subject to the full visit fee.
Cancelled appointments with more than 48 hours notice (2 full business days, not including weekends or holidays) are subject to a $20+HST cancellation fee.
Rescheduling appointments with more than 48 business hours may be done at no charge. Rescheduling fees do not apply if due to Physician or LC unavailability. Refunds are subject to a $20.00+HST admin fee. In the event of a non-sufficient funds (NSF) occurrence, a fee of $20+HST will be charged.
Without a VALID referral or health card number on file, patients will not be eligible for the OHIP subsidized consult with the physician and if they choose to keep the appointment they will be automatically charged the non-subsidized rate to see the IBCLC only. Patients must commit to ensuring parent and baby(ies) will be in attendance for 60 minutes during subsidized appointments and seen by the physician unless not yet born, or consent to paying the non-subsidized rate for a consult with the IBCLC only.
**This is not a referral for a general pediatrics appointment. Referring providers/primary care providers are responsible for continued monitoring for adequate weight gain. We endeavour to help families optimize breastfeeding, milk supply and breastmilk intake.
